I.E. 7 not Supported on Windows 2000

06/02/05 | by Clarise | Categories: On the web

For those unhappy about the news about I.E.7 being unsupported in Windows 2000, Smile :P, Firefox is a better browser option anyway.

According to the article in c|net news.com Windows 2000 users to miss out on IE 7,
"IE 7, which will be available in beta this summer, will offer improved security features and basic tabbed browsing. It is also expected to offer improved standards support, including enhanced support for CSS 2 and PNG transparencies."

Firefox has tabbed browsing right now (which actually is a very nice feature) and other features like: Popup Blocking, Privacy and Security, RSS integration, Text Zooming to make small text easy to read and Standard Developer Tools, e.g. JavaScript and CSS error/warning console. I have not really made a side by side comparison of the benefits of I.E.7 vs Firefox but at first glance, Firefox already has some (maybe all ;)) of the features that are being offered by I.E.7.
