I have a 2420 and my line 2 takes incomming and outgoing calls, but my line 1 only lets me call out. I have had this phone for several years with no problem. I have the phone set no to log any calls. Does anyone have any ideas that I could try. It just seems wierd to me that line 2 works just fine, but line 1 will not ring when someone calls that line. Thanks in advance for you time.

Could someone take a look at the base unit adapter for Gigabit 2420? I need the specs. If you know of a location to buy the adapter please post this info. (I think it is 12V)

I just got this phone (base + cordless) at a tag sale. Unfortunately the base unit does not have the adapter and the manual does not identify the specs of that part.

BTW here's the location for Gigabit 2420 manual
I can confirm that the factory reset does fix the lock up problem.

However I have note tried the clear log entries method, which appears to be less extreme solutions if the problem is in fact the log entry getting locked up.

I had a separate issue with the wireless handset (staccato voice) and was never able to use it, but am quite happy with the desktop phone for home office use.

I have a vonage hooked up to line 2 and a regular POTS line to line 1 so I have the best of both worlds.

cheers..

Oh yea, one more comment about this phone system. (gigaset 2420)

It must use flash memory --- because when I gave my second base and handsets to a buddy, after it being in a closet with no power (and the recharge batteries in the handset dead), both the HANDSET and the BASE UNIT had every setting intact after initial power-on --- this included 36 phone messages on the hand base, and every phone number in the directory of the base, and the handsets, including what I had "named" each handset.

Same with the last base unit with three handsets I bought at a swap meet here in town. I won't use it for anything (which is another reason I want to set the base and handsets back to factory defaults), but I know from the info "left" in the memory of the phones, the man I bought the phones with used to be a pilot for a certain airline, lived in a certain area code, visited a certain doctor, used a certain pharmacy, had someone in the house named Jerrod, Cathryn, and Robert, visited a particular Bed and Breakfast --- all in a certain state... SCARY! If I were someone else, there's not telling what kind of Identity theft I could have manifested --- just from paying $30.00 at a swap meet for a phone. The airline checking stuff automated in the phone for him to "check in his crew, cabin and flight specifics"... scarier. That was accessed through one-touch redial.

Those who chucked your phones? Hope they were recycled well....

Just a reminder that if you DO ever sell any electronic equipment --- especially this phone set --- over the internet, eBay, or in a swap meet --- RESET EVERYTHING TO FACTORY DEFAULTS, and CHECK that your old messages, phone logs of who YOU called, and phone logs of who called YOU back to Zilch. ;-)

I can attest that information will last for *years* in this hardware.

The guy I bought the phone from is lucky I'm an honest citizen/geek --- he even left a pre-programmed credit card number and a pre-programmed long-distance carrier number in his phone ... :-(

By the way, THIS posting system made me wait 2160 seconds to post this comment ... (36 minutes).
Nice to see so many people who love this phone system --- served me VERY WELL for three years as my home phone, and my office phone. Loved the fact I could have a personal, and office line ring to the same unit. At one time had 5 handsets.

One disastrous day, surge/power outage "killed it" --- or so I thought; now I know I probably just overmaxed the directory.

Happened to be at a Best Buy and saw the base unit, out of the box, no handset for $30.00. Snatched it up, took it home, reset my handsets, Voila!

Moved, phone/chargers were packed --- couldn't get to them for a while, bought something much less capable, but usable for my new situations. 3 months ago unpacked it. Gave it to a friend. Handsets work flawlessly, but display on the base unit is unreadable :-(

Was at a garage sale this weekend. Saw the unit with 3 handsets and chargers. One handset still had charge in it, all buttons seemed to work. Specifically asked if the base unit display operated. Was told Yes, of course. Was overjoyed I could have my old/best phone system back.

Wrongo. Plugged in the base unit, display is whacked out, just like the one I gave away (This unit will be my third base unit). All handsets work. HOWEVER:

Going through the directions here, I can get the handset units into "HANDSET SERVICE mode by holding down keys as suggested and powering on. But, just before I type in the last number the corresponds to the letters for hotline, I get a BeepBeepBeepBeep.... and the handset will not accept any other input.

I also tried the #65 for the handset, because someone else said it worked on the handsets, but there are no "system settings" menus, but I did try the Mobile settings menus... no luck!

Re: Model #'s --- the handset I'm trying to reset has an L, not an N or an M by the number under the battery case.

Last comment: To the person who said they could "fix" your unit before you found the way to delete some numbers and get it to stop shutting off --- can you give me contact info? I would be willing to pay this to get the display in the base unit repaired --- I really, really used, and enjoyed the features of this (1999) manufactured cordless phone over two other units I've purchased, and have never found anything so capable, or intuitive to use...

Thanks,
I too ran into the problem of the system resetting on an incoming call, and deleting all log entries fixes it. Only land line calls cause the problem, not cell phone calls. So there must be something specific in the caller id info that causes the bug. I have always had my phone on a UPS, so power surges are not always the initiator of the problem.
The *65# password also works on handsets.
One thing to note: If you purchase additional handsets from ebay or wherever, check the version number, which is in the battery compartment). Not all verions are mix-and-match. Some will refuse to register with a different verion base. I know "N" and "M" series can function together.
