SyndIsphere or SyndOsphere

04/28/05 | by Joseph A. di Paolantonio [mail] | Categories: General Thoughts

The folk over at BetterBadNews say

Yes but if you and 999 other bloggers spell "syndosphere" with an"o"as in blogosphere you become a member of the syndorati 1000 and the betterbadnews panel will share the future value of the domain name with you when it's sold.end quotation

Hmm, well, yes, that would be nice. Let's see, syndisphere, with the original "i" is up to 809 references on Google; syndosphere is only BetterBadNews. 'Tis good to be unique.

Maybe it should be Cindy's spheres?

Congrats to The Cynosural Blog!

Your willingness to invest in the term syndosphere
ranks you among the top blogs in the Sundorati 1000.

Congrats! And I hope you let it all go to your head.

The BBN vlog "ranking the Syndosphere" is a really simple satire about ranking systems and their impact on the domain name futures market.

On the vlog the BBN panel examines how highly ranked bloggers can game the domain name markets by coining new terms they have pre-registered as .com domain names.

JosephDP saw right through the humor and nailed
the BetterBadNews panel for it's status as a low ranking video blog.

So what? Highly ranked domain name speculators are leveraging their rankings to intimidate bloggers into using the newly coined terms they own.

If that's gaming the market so be it.

who are the victims.

Yes, it's the early users of a new term who give the term its value. So if the early adoptors of a new term give it currency by using it shouldn't
they recieve a piece of the income when
the term they helped to made popular is resold on the domain name market for big bucks?

In the BBN Vlog, the BBN panel offers the first 1000 bloggers who help give the word, syndosphere, currency in the RSS vernacular, a 50% share of the future income when "syndosphere.com" is resold for a half million dollars.

Compare that deal to the deal being offered by the owner of syndisphere.com with an "i"

Don't worry

There is nothing to sphere but sphere itself.
